Nepali Style Pan Fried Mutton (Khasi ko Bhuteko Masu) Recipe!!

These days it is extremely busy at work. There is hardly any time for me to treat myself a yummy Nepali dinner and share what I cook with you all. Today, it was little on the lighter side work wise and therefore I had to make something special both to treat myself and share the recipe with my readers. Cooking is a serious hobby of mine and may be that is why I find excuses to take out some extra time from my busy schedule and cook something delicious: Especially Nepali Food. Today, I was craving Nepali Style Bhuteko Khasi ko Masu (Pan Fried Mutton), it was my first try actually, usually I make Mutton Curry (Click here for recipe). The result was amazing!! :) Here you go guys, enjoy the very authentic Nepali Style Bhuteko Khasi ko Masu (Pan Fried Mutton).

Things you will need:

  • Mutton (1 kg, cut in sizes as desired)
  • Onion (1 large, thinly sliced)
  • Cinnamon Stick (1, halved)
  • Cumin Seeds (1 tea spoon)
  • Cloves (2-3)
  • Fennel Seeds (1 tea spoon)
  • Fenugreek Seeds (1/2 tea spoon)
  • Oil (1/2 cup)
  • Red Chili Powder (1/2 table spoon)
  • Cumin-Coriander powder (1 table spoon)
  • Meat Masala (1 table spoon)
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste (2 table spoons)
  • Turmeric Powder (1 tea spoon)
  • Salt (according to taste)
Directions:
  1. On a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cinnamon stick, cloves, fenugreek, fennel, and cumin seeds. Fry until brownish black.
  2. Add onion and fry it until golden brown. 
  3. Add Mutton, salt and turmeric. Stir couple of times and cover and cook on a medium heat for 7-10 minutes. Stir periodically.
  4. Add all of the remaining ingredients. Stir, cover and cook for another 5 minutes. Stir periodically and heat should be at medium.
  5. Reduce the heat between small and medium. Close the pressure cooker lid and cook until the cooker whistle thrice.
  6. Heat dip dish, and add curry cooked in pressure cooker. Stir and cook on a heat between medium and high for 7-10 minutes. DO NOT COVER. Stir periodically. 
  7. Once meat looks red and crispy and all of the excess water is dry, the Bhuteko Khasi ko Masu (Pan Fried Mutton) is ready.
  8. Enjoy with rice, beaten rice or chapati :)
